Carles, who graduated from the Authonomous University of Barcelona (AUB) in 2013, has a keen interest in haematology, transfusion medicine and coagulation disorders, areas in which he has carried out research and published studies in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.

He also has a special interest in endocrinology and immunology and has worked closely with the Animal Blood Bank organisation for the past seven years.

In Barcelona, he was able to combine two of his passions at the city’s University Veterinary Hospital, teaching as an associated professor in the department of Medicine and Animal Surgery, and working as a clinician treating sick and injured animals.

In October 2017, he continued his studies by joining the Internal Medicine Residency programme at the veterinary hospital of the AUB (ECVIM-CA) which he’s now completed. He is also currently writing his PhD thesis in Feline Transfusion Medicine.

Eastcott Veterinary Referrals clinical director Duncan Barnes said: “It’s great to have Carles on board, with all the expertise in internal medicine and transfusion medicine that he brings to our team.”

Eastcott offers expert care in cardiology, dentistry, internal medicine, ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oncology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, diagnostic imaging and CT, anaesthesia and analgesia and has its own emergency and critical care centre.
