Virtual Vets South 2021 aims to help veterinary teams ‘conquer their fears’
Vets South 2021, a regional veterinary conference organised by Improve International, has launched its programme under the theme ‘Conquer your fears’. The theme reflects the reality of practice life which can regularly confront vets and vet nurses with challenging or unexpected situations.
The decision to move online was made in light of the continuing travel restrictions, meaning that the clinical content delivered will be available not just to vets and nurses in the UK, but to a global audience.
The event includes streams showcasing the latest thinking in small animal surgery, small animal medicine and veterinary nursing in a programme that runs across four days. It offers delegates an engaging and interactive experience from the comfort of their own home or practice. In addition to listening to lectures, they will be able to ask questions to speakers, participate in discussions with colleagues and browse the virtual exhibition.
Vets South ‘regulars’ Dr Andrew Carrington, an Official Veterinarian working in practice in Wiltshire, will chair the small animal medicine stream, while Dr Anna Harrison, a Regional Official Vet Assessor for Improve International, will chair the small animal surgery stream. Ms Wendy Nevins RVN and Past President of the BVNA will chair the nursing stream.

Commenting, Event Director Dr Aram Diez said: “Working in practice can be anything but routine with vets and nurses constantly facing unusual cases, challenging clients or hard-to-manage patients. Sometimes, these situations can feel quite daunting. This year’s theme, ’Conquer your fears’, reflects our intent to offer useful advice and top tips in all of the sessions to give vets and nurses the tools they need to approach these situations with confidence.
“We are creating an exceptional virtual conference experience and look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world in March for four days of great learning in a relaxed and welcoming virtual environment.”
In total, Vets South, will offer 33 hours of CPD for delegates across the three streams. In addition to the live lectures, delegates will be able to view recordings of all the sessions on-demand for three months following the conference.
