Purina® launches Love Later Life campaign to support senior pet care

Purina® has launched Love Later Life, an initiative designed to help veterinary teams take a proactive approach to supporting older dogs and cats. Featuring Dr Hannah Capon MA Vet MB MRCVS, founder of Canine Arthritis Management, the campaign combines practical support for senior pet clinics with educational opportunities for clinical teams.

Central to the campaign are Purina’s senior pet toolkits, which include a guide to setting up and running senior clinics, senior health questionnaires and screening resources, cognitive assessment tools, body condition and faecal scoring charts, nutritional assessment and recommendation tools, and owner information leaflets.

Libby Sheridan MRCVS, Scientific Affairs Manager at Purina, says: “As vets, we know that getting older isn’t a disease in itself, but it does bring changes that deserve our attention. Senior clinics give veterinary teams an opportunity to take a holistic approach, identifying changes in body condition, nutritional needs, declines in mobility or cognition that pet carers may otherwise put down to simply getting older.”

“Love Later Life is about helping practices to be proactive in supporting senior pets. By providing practical tools alongside expert education, we hope to encourage earlier conversations with pet carers and help identify simple adjustments, both at home and in the clinic, that can help pets continue to enjoy a good quality of life.”

As part of the campaign, Hannah is presenting ‘Managing osteoarthritis in dogs: A team-based approach to at-home care’, a free webinar hosted by e-Learning Vet. The webinar explores how osteoarthritis can affect much more than a dog’s joints, influencing everything from mobility and behaviour to sleep and emotional wellbeing. It also considers why effective management needs to look beyond clinical treatment to the dog’s lifestyle and home environment. Hannah will continue this focus at London Vet Show on 20 November, presenting ‘Managing pain by managing their daily life – tools to support a lifestyle approach to pain management’ from 16.15–16.40 in Gallery Suite 11–12.

Hannah, who qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2002, has worked across a wide range of veterinary roles and has a particular interest in chronic pain management, geriatrics, musculoskeletal health and rehabilitation. Her work through Canine Arthritis Management has received widespread recognition, including the World Small Animal Veterinary Association Global Welfare Award 2025 and the RCVS Impact Award 2020.
