Hertfordshire animal hospital smashes 2023 pledge commitment

A Hertfordshire animal hospital that pledged to complete 25 fundraising events and donate thousands of pounds to charity to celebrate its 25th anniversary has celebrated hitting its ambitious targets.

The incredible fundraising efforts were part of a number of pledges made by Linnaeus-owned Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hitchin at the start of 2023, its 25th year at the forefront of the veterinary industry.

One year later, the team at Davies is delighted to announce it raised £5,550 for charity and has supported £20,000 worth of care via pro-bono work.

As promised, it also opened a sustainable reflection garden to build on its pioneering sustainability work and supported local sports teams including Hitchin Cricket Club, Blueharts Hockey Club and Cranfield Netball Club.

Support was also provided to local schools and community groups, including a visit by a European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging to a local Beavers group.

Acts of kindness carried out by the animal hospital’s team included Letchworth food bank donations, while CPD events were held for the wider veterinary profession.

Ronan Doyle, hospital director at Davies Veterinary Specialists, said: “Our 2023 pledges had ambitious targets, so it’s been a fantastic team effort to surpass them.

“It made our 25th anniversary year even more special, especially as the pledges covered a wide range of activities, from raising money for good causes, to supporting the local community in various ways.”

This year, Davies has announced its chosen charity will be Vetlife, which provides emotional, financial and mental health support to the UK veterinary community and their families, whilst seeking ways to prevent such situations in the future.

In addition, Davies team members are also running charity events throughout the year for charities of their choice or for Vetlife.

Ronan added: “Our ambition for 2024 is to raise money as a team for Vetlife but also support as many charities that are close to our hearts as possible.

“Davies has a kind, caring team and I know in 2024 they will show the same commitment which made our 25th year such a success.”
