Southfields strengthens team with trio of top appointments

Leading Essex referral centre Southfields Veterinary Specialists has further enhanced its expert team with the arrival of a world-renowned specialist in neurology and neurosurgery.

The highly-experienced Dr Ane Uriarte has joined the specialist-led Linnaeus hospital as head of neurology and neurosurgery from Tufts University, in Boston, USA.

As well as Dr Uriate’s appointment, Southfields has moved to bolster its expertise in both anaesthesia and internal medicine services, with experienced clinicians Manuela Pascal and Samuel Fowlie also joining.

Henry L’Eplattenier, clinical director at Southfields, welcomed the arrival of the talented trio, saying: “These appointments further demonstrate our dedication to assembling the best and most highly experienced veterinary team possible here at Southfields as we continue to set the standard in veterinary medicine.

“We’re absolutely delighted Dr Uriarte will be leading our neurology and neurosurgery team. She is a talented neurologist, with a passion for neuro-oncology, and will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge, which enhances our already world-class team.

“We’re also very pleased to welcome Manuela to our anaesthesia team and Samuel to our internal medicine service, as both represent outstanding additions to our multidisciplinary hospital.”

Dr Uriarte said: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity of leading the neurology service at Southfields.

“Pets are part of our families and any family member having a neurological disorder can be devastating. I’m looking forward to helping our patients, clients and talented clinicians here at Southfields in such circumstances.”
