New appointments at Davies Veterinary Specialists

Three new appointments have been made at Davies Veterinary Specialists; the small animal multi-disciplinary referral practice based in Hertfordshire. Tim Richardson has been recruited as Managing Director, Ronan Doyle, the former Head of Soft Tissue Surgery at Davies, has been appointed Clinical Director and Lillian Twigg, formerly Diagnostics Supervisor at Davies, has been promoted to Head of Nursing.

Tim Richardson graduated from Cambridge Vet School in 1998. The majority of his career has been spent in small animal general practice, initially in a clinical capacity and most recently in management. He was head vet and then owner/director of a practice in Richmond for eight years and went on to work for the Food and Veterinary Authority in Iceland. On his return to the UK Tim first worked for Village Vet before joining the Medivet Group, becoming head of regional operations for the Southend Region and then Deputy Head of Clinical Operations. Tim has taken courses in business management and business finance through the London School of Economics.

Tim said: “I am passionate about providing support and authentic leadership to my teams. I am aware of the fantastic reputation of Davies and the whole team and have referred cases here throughout my career. I was particularly attracted by the opportunity of joining Davies and the Linnaeus group because I feel our values are very closely aligned. Delivering the highest standards of patient care is hugely important to me, whilst ensuring the happiness and wellbeing of my colleagues, through enabling them to provide this care, that is so equally important to them.”

Tim will spend the majority of his time at Davies but will also have responsibility for Southfields Veterinary Specialists in Basildon, which is also owned by Linneaus.

Ronan Doyle graduated from University College Dublin in 1999.  Before becoming Clinical Director at Davies, he led the Soft Tissue Surgical service for ten years, having initially joined the practice in 2005. Prior to this he had a post as lecturer in small animal surgery at University College Dublin after completing specialist training there. He became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2005 and an RCVS-recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery in 2006. As Clinical Director, Ronan will remain an active member of the soft-tissue surgery team.

Ronan said: “I am so proud of the outstanding care that we provide to our patients, which we are able to achieve by all of us at Davies working closely with our colleagues in general practice.  I am really excited by the opportunity of leading the amazing clinical team here at Davies with the support of our fantastic Nursing and Support teams, as well as with the wider assistance we receive from within Linnaeus group.”

Lillian Twigg graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 2006 with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. She has spent the majority of her career involved with small animal referral nursing. Lillian moved to the UK in 2010 in search of different nursing experiences and did locum work in both first opinion and referral nursing before joining Davies in 2011. Lillian was the Head Nurse – Diagnostics before being appointed as the Head of Nursing.

Lillian said: “I am so happy to have the opportunity to lead a nursing team who strive to nurse their patients at the highest standard.”
