WVC Develops a Hands-on Symposium for Recent Graduates

WVC today opens registration for a new hands-on course, held July 16-18, 2018, in Las Vegas at the Oquendo Center. The program is specifically developed for recent graduates and veterinarians looking to return to patient care after a leave of absence. Participants will experience hands-on training and build confidence in three vital practice areas: emergency and critical care, communications and dentistry.

Expert instructors include:

Steven Marks, BVSc, MS, MRCVS, DACVIM, has special interest in emergency and critical care, general internal medicine, cardiopulmonary medicine and pain management. Dr. Marks will instruct a hands-on lab ensuring participants are prepared and have confidence in emergency and critical care situations.

Megan Skeffington, DVM, has advanced training and specialization in communications, and is a graduate of Iowa State University. Dr. Skeffington will instruct on veterinary communications, the underutilized superpower.

Paul Mitchell, DVM, DAVDC, was the president of the American Veterinary Dental College and extensively teaches hands-on dentistry to practitioners. Dr. Mitchell will lead a hands-on lab on dentistry, and instruct on its role in a thriving practice.

“WVC developed this Symposium to meet the needs of veterinarians who would like more practice in hands-on procedures and techniques and to build confidence for their day-to-day work with clients,” said WVC Chief Veterinary Medical Officer Dr. Anthony Pease. “We are really excited about these speakers and topics as they meet the needs of the individual as much as they will benefit the overall practice and can provide immediate benefits to the participants and patients.”

In addition to the WVC Annual Conference in March, WVC offers numerous year-round educational programs at the state-of-the-art Oquendo Center in Las Vegas. For 2018, WVC will host a Veterinary Technician Symposium, Women’s Veterinary Summit, Recent Graduate Symposium and a Veterinary Business Leadership Symposium.  In addition, WVC will host educational meetings with a Destination CE in Costa Rica and ‘On the Road’ courses in various cities across the U.S.
