Lilongwe Wildlife Trust needs you… get hands on and help save Africa’s wildlife
Located in a 200 hectare wilderness reserve, the LWT sanctuary cares for 250 individuals and conducts on average 80 rescues and 60 releases every year. Volunteers work alongside the animal care team, cleaning, feeding and caring for animals such as vervet monkeys, baboons, servals, hyenas, lions and duikers to name but a few.
LWT also runs the country’s only all-female Wildlife Emergency Response Unit (WERU) headed up by veterinarian Dr Amanda Salb. As well as heading up emergency response and research teams in the African bush, LWT also organises various advocacy and law enforcement programmes.
Vet Amanda Salb will be conducting the Wildlife Veterinary Intensive course in August and November 2016 with more course dates scheduled for 2017, ideal for vets and vet nurses looking for more practical hands-on experience.
This seven days introduction to wildlife veterinary medicine includes lectures and wet labs, monitoring and health checks. The course starts on Tuesday 16th August (or Tuesday 15th November) and costs £1100pp including all course materials, meals, accommodation and airport transfers but excluding flights and visas.
