Calling all Vet Nurses to BEVA Congress

BEVA is urging equine veterinary partners and practice managers to remember to include their veterinary nurses when it comes to booking tickets for BEVA Congress (7-10 September 2016).

BEVA Congress is a great place for vet nurses and student vet nurses to get together and to learn. There is a specific veterinary nursing day on Saturday 10 September, with themed lectures aimed specifically at VNs working with horses and presented by a combination of vets and vet nurses. Attendance counts as valuable CPD, something there is currently a distinct lack of for VNs working in equine practice.

Marie Rippingale is head equine nurse and a clinical coach at Scarsdale Vets in Derby. She is also a lecturer on the veterinary nursing diploma course at Bottle Green Training in Derbyshire. She will be lecturing at Congress and keenly advocates the advantages of vet nurses attending the event.

She said: “BEVA congress is a good place for VNs to further their knowledge and skills as they are exposed to experts in many different equine disciplines. They have a chance to network and to test out and appraise new products and equipment. Building up relationships with reps and manufacturers helps to establish a line of communication between the practice and supplier, helping the successful use and maintenance of products and equipment. BEVA congress also gives VNs a place to meet up, have fun and swap ideas – so useful for the small equine veterinary nursing community.”
