Vice President will sail into new role

Vice President of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, Tricia Colville, is set to sail into her new role by taking part in a 17m charity abseil down the ICC in Birmingham on Saturday 11 April to support the health of the nation’s pets – and she will be joined by dozens of other PetSavers heroes, including the brave Leonard brothers.

This year BSAVA Congress celebrates 25 years in Birmingham, so PetSavers, the charitable division of the BSAVA, is using one of the city’s landmarks in a charity abseil to raise money to fund research into the conditions that affect our pets.  PetSavers has invested more than £2 million into vital clinical research and training programmes, which has led to some key scientific breakthroughs in the treatment of small animal diseases.

Tricia, who has previously been Chair of PetSavers, will begin her presidential year on the Sunday of Congress, which remains the biggest event in the world dedicated to the companion animal veterinary profession. She said, “I’m delighted at the opportunity to support PetSavers in this way… even if it’s a bit scary!  It is fantastic that the great work that PetSavers funds can be highlighted through this event.”

Pedro Martín Bartolomé, the current Chair of PetSavers, said “this is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the charity along with supporting PetSavers in its mission to relieve the distress and pain caused by diseases for which we currently have no effective treatments.  So please show your support.”
