QUILL PRODUCTIONS DESIGN NEW HOOF-SPRAY SYSTEM IN COLLABORATION WITH AMBIC EQUIPMENT LIMITED
Quill Productions and Ambic Equipment Limited have worked in close co-operation and collaboration to create the revolutionary NEW Quill Hoof-Spray System to tackle Digital Dermatitis (DD).
Designed for use in the milking parlour, the new system allows Intra Hoof-fit Spray Liquid to be applied to hooves, without the need for lifting the feet. Use of the lever operated spray gun with stainless steel adjustable nozzle allows fast, easy and targeted application in less than 3 seconds per hoof.
As part of the development validation process, the Quill Hoof-Spray System has been installed in dairies at both the Royal Veterinary College, University of London and the University of Liverpool School of Veterinary Science, with significant results.
“We have the system fitted and a trial is underway [using Intra Hoof-fit Spray Liquid]….The Quill Hoof-Spray System is very good quality, fits well into the parlour and is easy to use to target the site of that heel with a precise dose for treatment.”
Dr. Rob Smith– School of Veterinary Science & Tesco Dairy Centre of Excellence – University of Liverpool
“This system makes treatment of digital dermatitis quick and simple. We all know if it is quick and simple then it gets done. Digital dermatitis cure rates are best if infected cows receive prolonged exposure to effective treatments. Repeated sprays are better than prolonged bandages and this system helps make this a practical reality. Combined with good foot hygiene, regular foot disinfection, heifer foot bathing and effective lame cow treatments, this approach could assist farmers in reducing digital dermatitis infection levels, could help preserve valuable antibiotics and could minimise the amount of copper used on farm”
Dr Nick Bell – Royal Veterinary College
Dorset-based dairy farmer, James Yeatman, has also seen some exceptional results:
“In the past we have always used Formalin footbaths but could never really get on top of Digital Dermatitis. Since using the Quill Hoof-Spray System, we have seen outstanding results, our cases of DD have dropped dramatically – in fact it has almost gone completely.
The system is very simple and fast to use; it only takes a couple of seconds to spray the hooves. It is now part of our daily milking routine.”
The Quill Hoof-Spray System has been designed specifically as part of the Intra Hoof-fit 3-Step Hoof Care Concept; for use with the unique and effective Intra Hoof-fit Spray Liquid. Based on the renowned Ambic®JetStream™ which has been carefully adapted in order to compensate for the viscosity of the Intra Hoof-fit Liquid, it allows it to be sprayed easily at a 50% concentration. There are no risks of contamination or concerns for health, unlike with the use of antibiotics or formalin-based products, since the Intra Hoof-fit range is antibiotic-free and non-carcinogenic.
This revolutionary Quill Hoof-Spray System is a major step forward in the constant fight against Digital Dermatitis.
The fully vacuum-operated system is safe, simple and reliable to use and maintain. Installation can either be completed by the operator, or by your local milking machine dealer.
