VETS4PETS PARTNER HELPS RESCUE 136 DOGS FROM PUPPY FARM ON CHANNEL 5’S THE DOG RESCUERS
Sean Taylor, Vet and Partner at Vets4Pets Bury was involved in the rescue of 136 dogs and puppies from a puppy farm in Manchester which was filmed for channel 5’s new documentary series The Dog Rescuers, which was first aired on 8th October 2013 at 7.30 pm.
The farm, which was found to be breeding and selling dogs without a licence was keeping a number of “premium” breeds including Chocolate Labradors, Huskies and Collies in very poor conditions.
“The breeds at the farm are very popular at the moment and can reach very high prices on the puppy market from unwitting wanna be dog owners” Says Sean.
“When we first arrived on the scene it was the breeding dogs that were our main concern. The puppies were actually being held in what was the bare minimum standard. Some of the breeding dogs were kept in very poor conditions and had been bred so much their teats were hanging to the ground. They were literally breeding machines” Added Sean.
This visit, then allowed the Police, RSPCA Team and Sean to remove all the dogs due to the breach of the animal welfare act legislation and the puppies were removed as ‘evidence’ for breeding and sale of dogs without a licence. It took the team 10 hours to remove all the animals, which have since been in the care of the RSPCA some of which have been re-homed already.
