KRKA completes Robexera® pain management portfolio with launch of feline chewable tablet
KRKA UK has expanded its pain management offering with the launch of Robexera® Chewable Tablets for Cats, completing the Robexera® portfolio and providing veterinary teams with a comprehensive range of tablet and injection formulations.
Containing robenacoxib, a highly COX-2 selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), Robexera® Chewable Tablets for Cats are indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with acute or chronic musculoskeletal disorders and for the reduction of moderate pain and inflammation associated with orthopaedic surgery.1
Robenacoxib has the best proven safety profile for cats of any NSAID.2 With a wide safety margin and no accumulation during longer-term use,3 its targeted action allows it to concentrate at the site of inflammation. A short systemic half-life and high protein binding support rapid elimination from the bloodstream, helping to spare well-perfused organs including the kidneys, liver and gastrointestinal tract.4
Renzo Di Florio, Krka’s Technical Veterinary Adviser, said, “Recognising pain in cats can be difficult because the signs are often subtle, particularly with chronic musculoskeletal disease. By the time changes in mobility or behaviour are obvious, pain may already be having a significant impact on quality of life. Identifying these patients and addressing pain early is important, and a well-established efficacy and safety profile can help give both clinicians and owners confidence to begin treatment.”2
A key feature of the new product is its small tablet size, measuring just 6 mm in diameter – smaller than many commonly fed cat kibbles. The tablet is also meat and yeast flavoured,1 with both features designed to aid transition to at home administration.
As the first generic feline robenacoxib chewable tablet available in the UK, Robexera® offers veterinary practices a bioequivalent alternative to the originator product,5 helping improve accessibility to effective pain management while delivering commercial value to practices and clients alike.
Robexera® Chewable Tablets for Cats are available as 6 mg tablets in packs of 30, for cats weighing 2.5 kg or above. The safety of the product has not been established in cats under four months of age.1 The launch marks the final addition to the Robexera® tablet portfolio.
The range also includes:
For canine patients, Robexera® chewable tablets for dogs are available in four tablet sizes – 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg – with dosing options across a range of body weights from 2.5 kg to 80 kg. The tablets are indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and soft tissue surgery.
For cats and dogs, Robexera® 20 mg/ml injectable solution is indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with orthopaedic or soft tissue surgery.
To support the launch, Krka has developed a dedicated Robexera® resource page bringing together practical information for veterinary teams, including educational materials, product information and the Robexera® detailers.
