Hallmarq Veterinary Imaging’s green expansion to meet soaring demand for equine MRI and CT systems

Over the past decade, Hallmarq Veterinary Imaging has experienced exponential growth, repeatedly outgrowing its premises due to escalating demand. In 2017, faced with limited space for expansion, the company doubled its original floor area by securing the lease to the neighbouring Unit 6. Subsequently, a purpose-built space was added, housing an office area for the company’s staff, with a mezzanine floor installed above the entire manufacturing area.

With the recent acquisition of an additional 3,800 square feet of space in March, Hallmarq can now accommodate three permanent slCT bays for modular manufacturing, with each bay having dedicated space for product-specific assembly. Most of the slCT machines are now fitted into modular rooms or ‘cubes’ which, once ready for dispatch, are craned out of the building and shipped around the world.

The expansion also facilitates in-house testing, upgrades, and improvements conducted by the company’s Research and Development (R&D) team, further enhancing their reputation for delivering innovative MRI and CT products to the veterinary industry to meeting the exacting requirements of veterinary practices looking to implement advanced imaging.

As a testament to Hallmarq’s commitment to sustainability, the company has taken significant steps to minimize its environmental impact. The new unit will feature 32 solar panels on the roof, generating its own electricity and contributing to the company’s journey towards carbon neutrality. In recognition of their dedication to the environment, Hallmarq was awarded the ESG Excellent accolade last year. The company remains steadfast in its pledge to reduce its carbon footprint and actively supports its staff and the communities it operates in.

In line with their ongoing commitment to sustainability, Hallmarq plans to continually review and optimize their supply chain processes, undergo external audits to measure environmental performance, and aim for ISO 14001 accreditation later this year.

The expansion and demand for products also brings employment opportunities, with the recent appointment of several new personnel including a Manufacturing Engineer, a Global Head of Manufacturing, two Equine New Business Managers and a Small Animal Product Manager. This additional headcount will support the company’s growth and enhance operations across their offices in Chicago, with dedicated Subject Matter Experts stationed in both the UK and USA.

As Hallmarq embarks on this exciting new phase of growth, the company remains committed to its mission of delivering innovative imaging solutions while upholding the highest standards of green and sustainability initiatives. By expanding their manufacturing capacity and prioritizing environmental responsibility, Hallmarq solidifies its position as a leading force in the veterinary industry.
