Dick White Referrals appoints Dr Anne Kurosawa as head of cardiology

One of Europe’s most highly-regarded referral centres has appointed an American heart specialist as its new head of cardiology.

Dr Anne Kurosawa has joined Linnaeus-owned Dick White Referrals, in Cambridgeshire, from her previous role as a lecturer at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and will be part of the team delivering the practice’s new open-heart surgery service.

Dr Kurosawa is originally from New York City and obtained her veterinary degree from Purdue University in 2011. She completed her rotating internship at Louisiana State University, followed by two research fellowships at Michigan State University and Nihon University.

She then completed her residency at the RVC, before achieving diplomate status of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 2017.

Dr Kurosawa’s interests include treatment and management of congestive heart failure, feline cardiomyopathy and cardiac interventions.

Dr Kurosawa said: “I’m delighted to be joining the cardiology team at DWR at a very exciting time, supporting the recently-launched open-heart surgery service.

“We’re one of very few hospitals in the world to be able to offer this treatment, so being a part of this is a great challenge, both personally and professionally.”

Simon Tappin, clinical director at Dick White Referrals, said: “Appointing a cardiologist of Anne’s standing is a reflection of the truly world-class service we are offering here at DWR. We’re delighted to have her as part of the team.”

Dick White Referrals offers specialist-led care in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, diagnostic pathology, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, interventional radiology, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy and soft tissue surgery.
