BSAVA publishes new endoscopy and endosurgery manual
The BSAVA has published an updated edition of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Endoscopy and Endosurgery, together with an accompanying series of videos.
Under the direction of the editorial team of Philip Lhermette, David Sobel and Elise Robertson, this second edition has been completely revised to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date guidance for veterinary surgeons who wish to practice minimally invasive endoscopic techniques.
Since the first edition of the Manual was published in 2008, many endoscopy and endosurgery techniques have been modified and improved, and this is reflected in the chapters. Routine procedures are described in detail, as these provide the foundation for practical experience and enable transferable skills to be applied to more advanced procedures at the appropriate juncture. More advanced techniques are also included for more experienced practitioners.
A collection of more than 40 videos has also been produced to accompany the Manual, demonstrating the techniques described to help the reader understand visually how a particular procedure should be performed. These can be accessed via the BSAVA Library.
- Chapters on oesophagoscopy, interventional endoscopy, and evolving trends and future developments
- More detailed information on minimally invasive techniques in cats
- Significantly expanded chapter on laparoscopy covering techniques ranging from liver biopsy and ovariectomy to cholecystectomy and adrenalectomy
Dr Jolle Kirpensteijn, Chief Professional Veterinary Officer at Hills Pet Nutrition in the USA and a Past President of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association said: “I hope you are as excited to turn the pages as I was when I received the news that the new Manual was on its way. This book represents the pinnacle of endoscopic surgery.”
