Employing New Graduates, Lancaster University, 8th July 2017

SPVS will run a one day course aimed at those seeking to employ new graduates as part of the 30th Anniversary of their Lancaster Event for Final Year Students on Saturday 8th July 2017. The day, chaired by Robin Hargreaves, will include an introduction to mentoring by Nick Steele from Zoetis, an outline of the RCVS graduate Professional Development Phase, and a session on how to recognise and protect against workplace stress at this particularly vulnerable time from Carolyne Crowe. A panel of recent graduates will share their experiences and discuss whether New Millennials are really that different.
There is also the opportunity for delegates join final year students and other guests at a drinks reception and a 30th Anniversary Gala dinner that evening with the opportunity of meeting potential young employees. Tickets are very limited for this ‘in-demand’ evening.
SPVS Senior Vice-President, Stephanie Writer-Davies says:
‘Employing new graduates requires a commitment from the whole practice, but when it works, it can be very rewarding for all concerned. Many of our members tell us they are employing new graduates for the first time because of the shortage of experienced vets and this day will help them prepare. They will also have the opportunity to meet some of this year’s more motivated students face to face and maybe even find their first recruit!’
